Dim the Lights

What is it ?

The goal of this mutator is to play maps in a darker or grighter environment as they were intended for. Also it can be used to make a "Day to Night" effect in a map. So you start in a map at dawn and you must reach the goal before the sun is up. Cool for Assault maps I think. It could also be use in machinima. I am planning on making a Plug-in for UMS that can control the lights.

Got some basic stuff working. You can control the lights with some keys (Admin can control the lights in networkgames). There are still some artifacts when changing the lights (like some polys don't get lit correctly). Problems with changing the lighting in zones. It is a huge performance hit when the mutator is running. Rendering one frame take 3-4 times as long as normal. This is not playable.

I have been working on it a bit more, but at the moment the project is on hold. I will probably wait till UT2003 before I continue. This mod does not seem feasable on UT. If you are interested in the current code mail me.

This site is only meant as an archive and replacement for my old site at http://home.ict.nl/~mweterin/unreal/. No Unreal development will be done for the coming time (maybe when UT3 comes out).
